Environment
Our out of school care has access to the gym hall for physicals and extra curricular activities such as Baton and Taekwondo (for an additional cost), a games room where the children have access to a selection of board games and computer consoles and the use of a large hall that is set up with a variety of activities to meet the children’s needs and interests such as arts and crafts, construction play and imaginative play.
Our children also have the opportunity to access outdoor play on a daily basis, where we have use of the school playground and football pitches. In addition to this we also have outdoor learning boxes for den building, mark making, playground games and sports day activities which the children can use in large or small groups to help develop problem solving, team work and creativity skills.
During their sessions, the children are offered a healthy breakfast or snack.
Our children are encouraged to help prepare and clear away snacks and activities to help promote independence, social skills and an awareness of responsibilities.
Community
During the school holidays and occasionally during term time, we enjoy exploring our local community by going on nature walks, visiting the local park and library.
We also plan fun day trips within the larger surrounding area such as trips into Glasgow visiting museums and cultural experiences, visits to parks such as Burn Green and the Colzium as well as planning fun days within our unit.
When planning our programme of activities, the children’s interests are extremely important to us. The children are fully involved in the planning process to ensure all their needs and interest are being meet.
